Dead Singers Project

CLIL PROJECT: Dead singers' project

Aims:
- sts find information about dead singers
- sts learn to write up biographies
- sts prepare the presentation about the chosen singer
- sts present their work in front of the class
- Language aims: sts use the past simple and biography language

1. Introduction
Sts listen to different songs (30 seconds clips) and they are asked to identify the musicians and music styles (the teacher does not make any corrections)

- Teacher shows an Animoto clip with pictures of different singers

- Sts write names of the singers they have identified
- The teacher checks with the students the names of the singers and they listen to some songs again (this time the teacher checks their answers)

2. Task
- Teacher presents a biography of a singer using Prezi / PPT
- Sts complete the questionnaire (multiple choice) related to the singer's life
- Sts read the biography and fill in the gaps (infinitive - past simple)
- Sts decide who they are going to write about, look for information and write up their biographies
- Sts design their presentations in groups / pairs
- Sts do their presentations on famous dead singers



3. Outcomes:
- Sts find out about famous singers
- Sts use past simple form in context +  biography language
- Sts learn how to use Prezi/ PPT presentations
- Sts learn how to present their work orally in front of the class

4. Assessment:
- Rubrics for the oral presentations: prezi/ppt outline and presentation (50%)
- Rubrics for the writing of biographies: language use, content, outline (30%)
- Attitude and participation (10%)
- Peer to peer evaluation (Sts write notes on good and bad points about fluency, creativity and content while their classmates are doing their presentations. After each presentation, the Sts and the teacher give oral feedback to the others) (10%)
